About the Author: The author Jitendra Kumar is an Indian Forest Service officer with experience of working in three States - Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, and Mizoram. He did his graduation (B.Tech.) from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur and MPA (Master in Public Affairs) from University of Minnesota, USA. His field of interest is “planning of schemes for sustainable management of natural resources”. He has written five working plans/schemes for facilitating scientific management of the forests. He has the experience of working as Director in the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. In the Ministry, he was associated with implementation of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, a flagship scheme for rural development and poverty alleviation. While working there, he, along-with other three persons, prepared a report on 'Priority Development Schemes for Left Wing Extremism (LWE) Affected Districts'. He also worked as Adviser (Natural Resources and Environment) in NITI Aayog. While working in NITI Aayog, he played a key role in preparation of a road map for Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayaee Yojana. Besides, he worked for the project “Holistic Development of Identified Islands” and prepared a book titled “Transforming the Islands through Creativity and Innovation”, along-with one co-author, which was published by NITI Aayog. Recently, he has published a book titled “Transforming the Rural India: ßc<+rs dne &&& cl vkSj nks NksVs dneß Presently, he is working as Director General of Forests and Special Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India.
