Medicinal plants are thought only in terms of their use in human or animal therapy. Of late, there has been a growing trend in the use of plant products in the management of pests and diseases commonly occur in crop plants. But, hardly there has been any thought that medicinal plants are also plants and diseases may equally affect them. However, investigations to detect and evaluate the pathogens causing heavy losses are still incomplete and need high priority. Obviously, information on diseases of medicinal plants is incomplete rather lacking. Therefore, it is felt that there is an urgent need to compile a treatise like ‘Recent Progress in Medicinal Plants: Diseases and their Management’ that can serve as a valuable document to those concerning medicinal plants. The book has been compiled out of contributions from the authors working on diseases of medicinal plants.
