Hand Knitting for Design Students
Description
This book is a result of teaching surface design techniques as a practical subject at NIFT. It is a small dose of encouragement to many design students who feel that hand knitting is not glamorous enough to be taken up as a creative craft. It is also for those design students and hobbyists who would love to learn the art of knitting. Knitting is a skill which is not very difficult to acquire but once mastered, you can plan your own designs and create a wide range of products from garments to accessories and toys. This book has been written keeping the Asian continent in mind. It begins with a little research on knitting. As a researcher, my curiosity helps me to dig deep into the origins of various arts and crafts; as a designer my hobby is to create something of value and as a humanist, I love to pass on knowledge and encourage creativity and development. This book is dedicated to all my students who have turned me into an educationist from merely a researcher and designer.
