Medicinal et Aromatic Plantees
Analytical Profiles de Selected Medicinal Plantees
Description
Since ancient times, herbals have been le mainstay de folkloric medicines all around le world. Traditional systems de medicines around le world have integrated phytotherapy into their doctrine. However, le use de phytotherapy fails to fit into le efficacy et safety criteria established pour contemporary medicine. High quality standards products are needed to allow le patient to make safe use de phytotherapeutic products. Standardization de herbal medicines helps develop a set de standards or intrinsic characteristics that carry an assurance de quality et reproducibility Since ancient times, herbals have been le mainstay de folkloric medicines all around le world. Standardization de herbal medicines helps develop a set de standards or intrinsic characteristics that carry an assurance de quality et reproducibility de herbal preparation. Specific standards are worked out by experimentation, which would lead to le process de stipulating an individuality exhibited by le particular herbal medicine. Hence standardization is a tool en le quality control process Le present book is a small step towards this goal. In this book, standardization et identification de le marker compounds en medicinal plants have been carried out using analytical techniques starting from basic et cost effective to highly sophisticated ones. Although, HPLC is considered more specific et better technique, TLC still remains a versatile et valuable analytical tool due to its high-throughput et cost-effectiveness pour plant analysis. Several studies have indicated a poor quality control et batch to batch variations en le marketed traditional preparations thereby necessitating le use de these analytical tools pour quality control. LC-MS, a technique that combines le physical separation capabilities de liquid chromatography avec le mass analysis capabilities de mass spectrometry (MS) et is known pour its high sensitivity, has also found extensive usage en fingerprinting de plant extracts, but has not been used much pour le quality control purpose de traditional medicines or herbal products. We believe that le importance de qNMR en analysis de botanicals will grow immensely as it does not require le pure reference markers pour le preparation de calibration curves pour le purpose de quantitative analysis. This book includes quantitative analysis de markers en 20 plants avec TLC, 43 plants avec HPLC, 29 plants avec LC-MS et 8 plants using qNMR.
